Abstract
Hardly can an approved commentary of the Qur'an be devoid of mentioning differences of opinions, which will lead its reader to think that commentary is all about differences and that opportunity is open to everyone to debate on it, hence there lies the problem of the research. Accordingly, this research aim to clarify to the reader what disagreement in Qur'an commentary means, its causes and explanations of what commentary is as well as its schools of thought and sources. I therefore followed in that the analytical method, and ended up with the following results: that Rasululah clarified whatever was difficult to understand. The best thing to interpret the Qur'an ' with is through the Qur'an itself followed by the tradition of Rasululah, then that of the successors. Most of the differences among the commentators is based on diversity and not contradiction. Interpretaion of the Qur'an has conditions that must be adhered to. Narrations from the children of Israel can be referred to without necessarily basing a verdict upon it. Differences in recitations is similar to multiple verses.
