ABSTRACT
Introduction: Nations and countries aspire for development, prosperity, and being up-to-date with advancements in technology and other fields. Nations believe that any development is based on the development of education. But how can education be developed without developing the teachers first, this is why governments and authorities are keen to develop the skills and capabilities of teachers; they realize that there is no way for such development without determining the factors that affect these skills, such concept is the core of the research idea. The scholar tried to determine the teaching skills level of English language teachers. Also, he tried to address the relation between the teachers’ teaching skills and the personal, occupational, economic, educational, and social factors affecting them. To determine these factors and to measure the teaching skills of the English language teachers in Alexandria Governorate.Methodology: This inferential study employed quantitative method by using questionnaire as the research instrument. It used simple random sampling technique involving teachers from Al-azhar school in Alexandria. The collected data were analysed through statistical package for social science (SPSS) 20.0 using Pearson correlation test to measure the relationship among variables, and using multiple linear regression analysis to measure the mediation impact of teachers’ alternative assessment strategy on students’ academic achievement.
