THE LEGITIMATE RIGHTS OF WOMEN IN THE HOLY QURAN THROUGH SURAT AN-NESA

Women in Islam have an important and clear role. They have been honored and granted rights to raise their status higher than it was before Islam. Throughout history and in ignorant societies, women have suffered a painful reality from infanticide, oppression, humiliation, aggression and violation of their dignity. The rights of women are of great importance in the Islamic thought as obvious in many positions in the Holy Quran, especially in Surat An-Nesa’. The research addresses this point. It shows the rights of women in Islam as summarized in Surat An-Nesa’, since women are a reflection of society, it shows the extent of its development and raising. The purpose of this research is to clarify the legitimate rights of women granted by God Almighty and detailed in His holy book and make them comprehensive and complete for all spheres of life in this world and the Hereafter on equal terms with men with neither injustice nor derogation. Islam is the only system that has granted women unprecedented. The current study arrives to the following results: in preIslam, women were maltreated and undervalued. After the advent of Islam, women have had an independent entity and personality, and been equated with men and women in terms of rights and dignity. The Islamic religion views women as half of society. She is the man's partner in building the universe, and his partner in slavery to God.
